Tower Test

As part of the transmission line reconfiguration associated with the Mesaba Junction 115kV Switching Station, the client asked LHB to evaluate three existing 115kV lattice towers for potential re-use. LHB built a RISA-3d model of each tower from existing drawings, developed the structure loading conditions, and analyzed each structure. While some overstress was anticipated, the modeled levels were significant enough that the client decided it was more prudent to purchase new structures than to reinforce the existing towers.
