Power Over Ethernet Demonstration Study
Innovations in Emerging Tech
LHB has partnered with the Center for Energy and Environment on a research project to demonstrate the energy savings potential of Power over Ethernet (PoE) technologies. Funded by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy and the Minnesota Department of Commerce Division of Energy Resources Conservation Applied Research and Development program, this multi-year project will demonstrate the energy savings potential of employing PoE technologies to control lighting, plug loads, and HVAC measures.
LHB’s climate solutions and electrical engineering teams are collaborating to design and study PoE systems in a commercial workplace retrofit and a new public school. These case studies will illustrate how bringing the Internet of Things to commercial buildings can result in greater occupant control, comfort, productivity, and security.
