Rick Carter
Chief Executive Officer He/Him/HisRick joined LHB in 1982 and has served as the firm’s CEO since 2019. As a designer, leader, mentor, and thought leader in the architecture/engineering industry, he has long taken an interest in sustainable and regenerative design. He championed LHB’s early embrace of these principles, has applied them on projects since 1991, and frequently presents on the topic at regional and national conferences. Rick’s current project work involves planning an entirely carbon-free community with 1,000 jobs and 1,000 units of affordable housing, including building operation, industrial, and transportation emissions.
Active in the Community
Rick is actively engaged in his community. He serves on the Orono Parks Commission and chairs the board of Big Island Legacy, a nonprofit focused on the development of a wooded island property in Lake Minnetonka. Rick is also the founding race director for Big Island and Back, which organizes annual skiing and paddling events that support the ICA Food Shelf and Freshwater Society.
